What is the TheraSuit Method™ ?
The TheraSuit Method™ is a structured program that enhances the functional development of each child. It combines the most effective elements of various treatment techniques and has a sound rationale based on the physiology of exercise.
The TheraSuit Method™ combats the effects of deconditioning and immobilization often presenting in children with movement disorders. It utilizes the key element of a strengthening program established for the child based on their individual needs, strengths, and weaknesses. Strength increases reflect in daily functional activity performance that follow, or are combined with the strengthening exercises.
The TheraSuit Method™ is based on an intensive and goal oriented exercise program. The elimination of pathological reflexes and the establishment of new, correct, and functional patterns of movement are of significant importance during treatment for functional gains. The method utilizes various tools including the TheraSuit™ and the Universal Exercise Unit.
Goals of the Therasuit Method™:
• Normalize muscle tone
• Increase active range of motion
• Increase strength and endurance
• Establish control over newly strengthened muscle groups
allowing patients to improve their functional skills working toward
independence.
